一直以来我都认为，我所在的城市距离北京还有一段距离。即使是动车也得一个多小时。而我，一个自从高中后就不再对体育感兴趣的人，自然对奥运会也是毫无兴趣，即使有免费的门票也会转卖出去，换了酒钱。所以，奥运会与我无关。
但是这种想法在一个傍晚被转变了。当时我下班进入小区，在门口被门卫叫住，微笑着请我在一个奥运文明守法市民的承诺上签字，那仗势很明显，我要是不签就不是文明守法市民了。倒也无所谓，我想，随手签上了我的名字。
谁知道，这之后因为奥运而发生的事情就不断的在我的身边出现。
我和老婆住的是他们单位的房子，于是在一个美好的周末的清晨，窗户外头日高起，我们还没想早朝。这时候门铃响了，慌乱间穿衣开门，原来是他们单位的同事，说是要排查奥运安全隐患，确定一下房子的住户。于是又签了一通字。
我想，现在我承诺做文明守法市民了，安全隐患也排除了（签完字后就证明是隐患排除了，没签字则说明还是存在安全隐患的），应该让我安稳的过我的生活了吧？奥运会是关注奥运会的人们的，我只是想过我的平常生活。
但是，随后的一天下午，一张单位证明我无不良犯罪记录的文件又放到了我的桌子上。管理中心的同事说我们单位是奥运会火炬传递的途径地，单位的员工必须得有无不良犯罪记录的证明。单位现在开具了证明，我们得到辖区的派出所去盖章才能生效。
显然我们的政府考量的很周全，你承诺了，说明你以后不会违法犯纪了；你签署了排除安全隐患的文件，说明现在你没有问题了。但是按照时间观念来说，还有个过去。所以你必须得有无不良行为或者犯罪的记录。截至此为止，我的过去现在和将来都和奥运会扯上联系挂上钩了。
当然，对于这次全球瞩目，全民参与的奥运会来说，仅仅是这些还是不够的。当我走在小区附近的菜市场我才真正明白这次奥运会的重要性和意义。当我和往常一样买了告诉老板称一斤鸡蛋的时候，老板告诉我还是多面一点吧，因为过两天，这个菜市场就要暂时关闭了，“不是因为奥运会么。”老板笑着对我说。
自此，我才明白。不以牺牲人民的生活为代价，不能显示一个事物的伟大；
自此，我才知道，无论你我是否身在北京，是否对关注奥运，但是都不得不和它有所联系；
自此，我才知道，奥运会就在我身边。
确实有点太过其事了……

明天就得去派出所盖章，这之前还要居委会先证明，片警然后签字…… :苦笑:

As you watch the Olympic Games commence in China, with excitement and pride swelling up your chest, would it be possible for you to spare a little thought for the people who are silently submerged in this glorious display?
Would you remember those who lost their homes in unfair “deals” to make space for the Olympic venues?
Would you remember the “undesirables” who were removed by force so that the city would look beautiful when the IOC visited before the Games was awarded to us?
Would you sympathized those whose only hope to get justice is to have their voices heard in the capital city, but that channel is shut so that the society is to appear more harmonious?
Should I continue to list?
Different opinions should be eradicated so that the people can be better united around the leadership of the party.
Those who voice their different views should be removed so the social stability can be maintained.
We are getting along with such governance fairly well. For many people the life is a lot better than what was used to be. Opportunities to excel are abound for the privileged and the wealthy. We should be content. We should be happy that the glass is at least half full. Or should we?
Is our society really harmonious? Is your poor neighbor as happy and content as you are? Is the neighboring town, city, or province as lucky as yours? Do we really have the Great Unity of all the ethnic groups?
Are you really happy? Is the air you breath fresh? Is the water you drink clear? After you finish a day’s of hard work to get rich and richer, can you stretch out and say, “I am I; and no one can force me be anyone else”?
Are the corruptions of those in power and miseries of those at the bottom the necessary evil of a country on the road to a brighter future? Would you buy the theory? Why after more than seventy years the beautiful countries described in Lin Yütang’s essays are gone; and the evils of the society are running just as rampant? Was not a “New China” built some fifty-nine years ago? Is the modernization with the socialist characteristics really working?
Do you really believe that today’s China is as glorious as it appears during the Olympics? Don’t you think there is much more to be desired? Do you really love China? Are you going to just happily go along with the next month’s extravaganza? Have you thought about what you could do to make China a truly civilized great country?
